There are three basic steps to in performing hypnosis, namely, the pre-talk, induction, and recovery. The Pre-talk Stage. The subject should have a basic understanding of what's about to happen and should not be in any way be coerced to do such experiment. In this stage it is important to make the subject comfortable by talking to them about the whole idea of the hypnotic process. The Induction Stage. Let the subject sit down in the comfort of a chair or let them in a couch to lay down. After the pre-talk has been done lead them relaxingly to the following steps of induction or the hypnosis proper: ï� Let the subject close his eyes and tell him to make three deep breathes and do the out breathing in a very relaxing manner. ï� Lead the subject into a further relaxed mode by slowly instructing them to relax the different body parts. Always give an assurance that the subject is doing well. ï� Make sure that the subject is in a very relax state. Telltale signs of such relax mode are, fluttering of the eyelids, pulling down of the muscles in the face, a recognizable difference of breathing depths. ï� If the subject is in a real state of deep relaxation, then suggestions can be made to the subject. The suggestions should be prepared beforehand and must be agreed upon by both parties. The Recovery Stage. After all the agreed suggestions have been made then it is appropriate to bring the subject back to the normal mindset. This can be done by suggesting to the subject that there would be a count off from 1 to 5, and at the instance the number 5 is mentioned the subject should wake up and feel refreshed.
