Some people also claim that hypnosis has helped them achieve weight loss. Hypnosis can also be used to aid cancer patients in chemotherapy so that they could control nausea. Hypnosis is sometimes used to hasten healing processes of other medical conditions such as psoriasis, warts, irritable bowel syndrome, high blood pressure, atopic dermatitis, and dental procedures.

So it is good to learn the steps to hypnotize people. This way, you can help other people achieve their goals (such as to stop smoking). You can watch a video of how expert hypnotists induce trance or hypnosis on their subjects. You do have to undergo some amount of training before you can try the following steps to another person, though. The best thing for you to do is memorize the steps and try to practice them on an imaginary subject.

You can use the following steps to hypnotize people:

1. Choose a background music which can aid in the hypnosis. There are different sound waves that can alter the brain's consciousness. Usually, relaxing music can help induce trance. However, make the music as soft and quiet as possible so that this will not bother your subject.

2. Allow your subject to relax by telling him to take 10 deep breaths. You should establish that your subject follow your instructions. Your goal is to make your subject relax to help induce the hypnotic state.

3. Hold an object over his forehead. Once he is relaxed, hold an object or your fingers just a little above his forehead, then ask him to look at it without moving his head. Ask him to follow the movement of your fingers or the object. Keep your voice low and slowly move your hand up and down while instructing the subject to slowly inhale and exhale.

4. Ask your subject to close his eyes once you pass your hand in a downward motion in front of his face. You should reiterate that the subject should relax at all times and follow your instructions so that he will wake up anytime you tell him so.

5. Test the hypnosis. If you are successful in allowing your subject to enter a trance state, you can tell them to do things for you. Try asking your subject to count loudly from 1 to 20 or the ABC. Suggest that you are seeing the numbers or letters disappear then ask if all these are gone. You can also suggest that you are in the desert or snow-laden place and watch how your subject reacts.

6. Bring your subject to consciousness. Wake your subject by telling him to do so. Pros can usually make their subjects snap in and out of hypnosis, but for your first session, do not do this.
